The city of Cleveland Ohio was founded in 1796. The city was named after general Moses Cleaveland, a Union General working for the Connecticut Land Company at the time. Cleaveland led the first surveys of the land that is now home to the second largest city in Ohio. Cleveland is a large city that offers many opportunities for recreation. Clevelanders have trouble finding boredom, but when they do, here are the top 7 things all Clevelanders can do:


1.The West Side Market

The west side market is over 100 years old. The market is home to hundreds of different vendors who sell fresh goods. Five days a week you are able to shop at the west side market: (Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat).

2. The Cleveland Museum of Art

The Cleveland Museum of Art is considered one of the best in the United States. It has just recently received 350 million in renovations. The Museum is free to attend for everyone. It also features a restaurant and café.


3. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was opened in 1995. Cleveland was choose to be the location because the citizens lobbied that a Cleveland radio DJ named Alan Freed coined the term “rock and roll” and organized the very first Rock & Roll Concert. The Rock Hall is a Museum, as well as a stage for current concerts.

4. The Jack Casino

The Jack Casino was opened on May 14th, 2012. It is one of Cleveland’s newest attractions. Persons over the age of 21 are able to test their luck at the casino. The Jack also features a variety of bars and dining options.

5. The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

The zoo features over 3,000 animals from all over the world. The Cleveland Metroparks zoo is famous for their primate exhibits. It offers one of the largest collections of apes and monkeys in North America. The zoo has been acquiring exotic animals since 1910. One of the most popular attractions features an indoor two story rainforest open year round.

  1. This really showed me that I am a Clevelander! I have done almost all of these with the exception of the casino because I am not old enough… but its in the future. I like how you went into detail about each place and gave the location so it is easy to look up. The facts were really informative.The pictures were really nice too.

  2. I have always wanted to visit the Rock Hall. The West Side Market is pretty cool too. It is amazing to see how much better the quality of the food is there than at a chain grocery store

  3. So many cool things to do in The Land. West side market has endless amounts of delicious foods. The Cleveland Zoo is also an amazing place to go too along with the aquarium.
